Darrin Scott wins inaugural Pitreavie Gift

TLJT runner Darrin Scott (9m) took first place in the final of the first Pitreavie Gift at just after 4.30pm yesterday. He had won Heat 4 in the morning (10.87 secs) and was one of the six fastest heat winners seeded for the cross ties. As only cross tie winners were going through to the final, he had to pull out all the stops to ensure qualification. He did so as indeed did all of the six seeded runners who all went to the final.  Backmarker for the final was Antony Daffurn of Kilbarchan AC (2…

Winner Sash "Gifted" from Australia

The Directors of the Pitreavie Gift are delighted to announce that the winner of the inaugural Pitreavie Gift will receive a Victor's sash in the tradition of the Australian Gift meetings upon which this meeting is modelled. The winner of the 1963 New Year Sprint, R F (Ricky) Dunbar, originally from Edinburgh but now a resident of Victoria and still a regular competitor (and winner himself!) in events held in his "new"  found home state contacted the Gift immediately he heard about the new venture, offering to promote and support it in any way he could…

Any decision about this would be taken as soon as it was reasonably practicable to do so and intimated on this web site immediately…

Inaugural Pitreavie Gift Heat Draw

The draw for the heats of the first Pitreavie Gift will take place on Monday 16th January 2012 at 7pm in the Thistle Suite of the Pitreavie Athletics Centre in Dunfermline. An open invitation is extended to all who have an interest in the event and in the wider world of handicapped athletics for both adults and youths. The full list of handicaps and the draws will appear later in the week on our website.

Deadline for entries extended!

Due to the overwhelming demand from athletes to take part in the inaugural Pitreavie Gift, with yet more entries being received by post even today, the organising Committee has agreed to extend the deadline for applications until Friday 6th January 2012. Event handicapper Don Campbell has been staggered by the numbers of applications received with, as usual, many of them coming in at the last minute. He said “While time will be needed to draw up the handicaps for the big day at the end of January, the number of promised applications but not yet received made it inevitable that we would have to extend the last date for entry…
