Donations from Down Under

The Directors of the Pitreavie Gift are delighted to announce that in addition to the Victor's Sash donated last year - and again in 2013 -  by 1963 New Year Sprint winner, Ricky Dunbar, who now lives in Victoria, Australia, all of the adult events for 2013 will also now receive a similar award.

Another fellow Scot now domiciled in the Antipodes, John Hilditch, has donated the sash for the Veterans' 90 metres and legendary trainer John Henry  has put up the the sash for the 200 metres. He has also donated since 2007 the winner's sash for the Open 90 metres at the Famous Alva Games each July.

Jika Jones is the donor of the ribbon for the 800 metres and Sue Dunbar, wife of Ricky, has joined her husband in supporting the Gift by providing the Winner's award for the 1600 metres.

The connection between the Gift and Australia is a strong one and the roots of the Gift are to be found in a visit to the Stawell Gift some years ago. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to them for this generous support and know that the competitors all appreciate the gesture and are keen to be the recipient of these magnificent awards.
